HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENTS

Date: September 13 and 14, 2025; 0900-1500

Location: Osceola Volunteer Fire Department

Instructor: Rescue Techs

Pre-requisites: Hazardous Materials Awareness

Hazardous materials are everywhere but farms provide a unique set of hazards that are often overlooked in traditional hazmat programs. This program focuses on common farm hazards, starting with an overview of the challenges faced by farmers and identifying the risky nature of the business. 

Course Objectives: 
  • reinforcement of general hazmat knowledge
  • identify specific hazards related to animals (manure and silage), pesticides, and fertilizers
  • Pre-incident planning
  • analyze risk factors and potential hazmat emergencies and develop farm safety programs for hometowns
  • Preparedness and Response to Agricultural Hazardous Materials Incidents
  • 8 hours con-ed credits: 4 CPC, 4 other
